St. James AME Church Welcomes You!
We are a warm and inviting multigenerational church that loves God and the community. We invite you to join us in worship on Sunday. Here are answered frequently-asked questions (FAQ) that you may find helpful in planning your visit.
FAQ
What time is worship?
Our worship service is at 10:30 AM CST.
How should I dress?
Although we do not have a dress code, the most common attire includes dresses, suits, slacks, and button-down shirts. However we have members who feel more comfortable in casual attire including jeans and t-shirts. We encourage you to come as you are!
Is your church handicapped accessible?
Yes. We provide several handicapped parking spots. We also have an elevator that facilitates access into the sanctuary.
Will I be asked to stand as a visitor?
Although we ask our visitors to stand during the worship service, you are not required to do so. Please fill out a visitor card so that we can keep in touch with you.
What is the nearest "L" station on Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)?
We are conveniently located near public transportation. Take the Red Line to the CTA 95th/Dan Ryan Station/Bus Terminal. We are located only two blocks away from the station at the intersection of South Lafayette Avenue and 93rd Street at 9256 South Lafayette Avenue.
How do I join your church?
In each worship experience we set aside time for you to become a member of our church family during the Invitation to Discipleship. At that time, the minister will receive new members to our church.
